After being titled the Top Philanthropic Sorority 2013-2014 by Carleton University's Greek Council, we are determined to earn that title again this year but most importantly give back to the wonderful world around us and make a difference in the lives of others.

Nicaragua is the biggest country in Central America however only 78% of the population is literate and more than 53% of secondary school-aged girls in Nicaragua do not attend secondary school. Even so, 15% of children ages 5-14 are involved in child labour.

To do our part, Alpha Pi Phi has teamed up with Free The Children in hopes of fundraising $10,000 to build a school in Nicaragua, entitled the "Brick by Brick" project. Throughout the school year, sisters will be fundraising to able to provide funds to buy the materials for construction of the school.

To jump-start our fundraising, yesterday our sisters hosted "Car Wash for a Cause" which consisted of a car wash at Carleton University. Many sisters and rush came out to support and despite the rain, we had a great time!
